Well folks, it’s been awhile.
Since March, in fact.
I have no excuse, except the usual, which is, you know…
There were several conferences, a book launch or two, new platforms, editing other authors, becoming a board member for FWA (Yay!) and a ton of other stuff, but really, it all comes down to just one word: Life.
And now I’m moving.
Which is also life, but more like, a life interrupted or something, which sounds a great deal more ominous than it, in fact, is. But highly stressful all the same. I am not looking forward to it.
Or rather, I am, but mostly to the after part. New house, closer to my daughter and her family, a whole new office with a tad more distance between my work and my private life – all of that will, in the end, make it worth it.
But in the meantime…
Yeah, not looking forward to the actual moving part.
So, before I run off and leave you for a week of some of the most stressful adulting a human being has to endure, here’s what’s been happening.
Jax Book Fest was a blast. Got to meet some new readers, give out some prizes and hang out with some of my most awesome writer peeps.
It doesn’t get much better than that.
A little later in the month, I took a research trip to Cassadaga Florida, where one of the stories in Changelings is set. It was one of the most interesting trips I’ve taken in a long time. So much so, that this week me and my bestie, Tracie Roberts, are going again. I can’t wait! I’m hoping we’ll get to see even more than I did on my first trip.
Then came April, when I facilitated the FWA Focus Day on Craft. We had four presenters and learned a great deal. I am so lucky to work with such great people!
In May I was a featured author at I ❤ Books here in Jacksonville. It was a great experience, and a psychic informed me that my thirteenth book would be a blockbuster! Here’s hoping.
I also started a new hobby ~ rock tumbling. My grandson thinks this is the greatest thing ever and can’t wait to do it again. I have to admit, we came up with some very nice stones.
It wasn’t all sunshine and roses in May. We lost our cousin and dear friend, Mitch. We will always miss him.
In June it was off to the races again with another conference.
This time we were Cocoa Beach for the SCBL reader/writer conference and it was, as usual, fabulous. I got to give out more prizes, AND I launched my new book, Changelings. Could not have asked for a better time.
Also in June, I facilitated the second and final FWA Focus Day for 2018, this one on DIY Marketing. Again, great presenters and staff made for a wonderful, helpful event that I think all the attendees enjoyed.
Now it’s July and I’m working on finishing my next book, The Heart’s Last Hope. I’ll be launching it after the move, some time in late August/early September.
In the meantime, I’ll be counting my blessings. Looking back over these past few months, it strikes me that I have a lot to be thankful for. If I’ve been busy, it’s been mostly great things, and I don’t want to ignore that, so I won’t.
For now, I have to shift my focus to moving. Not far, but still…
So, until next time ~ Live, Laugh and Love, because after all, what else is there?
